The surrounding area offers tennis, cycling, horse-riding, kayaking, boating, adventure park and swimming, and you don't have to travel too far to find a golf course or a fishing lake either. Less sporty choices include trips to the Atlantic coast, to La Rochelle or the Ile de Ré; shopping and sightseeing sprees to the nearby large towns of Poitiers or Niort; and, of course, a leisurely boat trip down the peaceful waterways of the Marais Poitévin.

Tuesday is market day.
Things are pretty peaceful here but if you get out of bed early on Tuesdays you will see another side of life in Coulonges-sur-l'Autize..... the hustle and bustle of the colourful market.
Two of France's most visited attractions are the theme parks of Puy du Fou and Futuroscope, which are also only just over an hour's drive away and well worth a visit for the whole family.
A little further are the vineyards of Bordeaux, the distilleries of Cognac and the world famous zoo La Palmyre.
