Hastings consists of its Old and New Towns that merge into St Leonards to the West. This creates a very long seafront punctuated by the pier.

The famous old town huts still support the fishing fleet. Visit the museum or climb the East cliffs.

Hastings is a holiday centre but the old town is also full of quaint historic houses like "The Piece of Cheeze", yellow and triangular as its name suggests, and you can lodge there.

Fish and chips are a staple diet.

The local area of Hastings is surrounded by villages such as Battle, Bexhill, Pevensey, Rye, and Winchelsea.

Hastings, 1066 country
Ever since William, Hastings has been famous for its battle.

Winchelsea
One of the beautiful
local villages.

The battle of Hastings actually took place near the more recent village of 'Battle'.

William of Normandy probably landed at Pevensy and he burnt his boats as an added incentive to his knights! William's victory in 1066 marks the last time that England was successfully invaded.

The abbey at Battle was built on the site to make amends for the blood that was spilt. The Abbey grounds detail the battle's history and how William nearly lost.
