Clare's birthday
Clare elected to have her birthday in Kew Gardens. The sun dutifully came out and we all enjoyed ourselves. Food was at the 'maids of honour'.

The church visit to WassySo what's at Wassy? Well, we visited a museum of the massacre there. This was the event credited with triggering the wars of religion in France and we were treated to a personal tour. In French of course, so there are comments in English (for you) and French (for them) along the way. Or you can read more here:

In April, a rather cold and rainy April, Brian came to visit. He arrived by train in Paris, so our first visit was there. Then from our lodgings in Vitry we travelled to Domazan and visited Cognac and Jarnac.

2010. June and I visited
Puy du Fou (Means 'heights of folly'? Lit. 'mountain of the fool') of which the evening spectacular was just that - spectacular! Here are some photos that do not do it justice!

Prizes after the swim for charity event.
Actually only Soly took part although we sponsored him! Still it was fun just to come and see the prizes and certificates, and many photos of the event posted on the wall. Champagne (sort of) and shortbread (also sort of) was served to help the event along.

At the time I wrote "Time to visit us and share our enjoyment of the gardens. All June's hard work!", but now it is time to visit us and enjoy Champagne country, or rendez-vous at our cottage for a larger garden experience.

A tourist town with acres of history. So there are interesting things to see, good restaurants, it's open on Sundays!, and there are tourist rides too.

Currently this is being restored in the 'French' way. The French are very happy to 'reconstruct' the ruin to the original plans (if not in the original way, they use JCBs and modern building techniques).
